Chartering a Bus in Chicago for Summer Baseball
Summer is about many things. Pool parties. Fresh cut grass. Sunbathing. Lemonade. But mostly, we like to think that summer is really about America’s favorite pastime – baseball. And for those looking to infuse their summer with professional baseball, there’s really only once place to go: Chicago.
Chicago is a haven for sports fanatics of all kinds, but during the summer the entire city turns its attention to the Cubs and White Sox. And it’s no wonder. Take a look at these fun facts about Chicago’s two baseball teams:
- The Chicago Cubs are part of the national league. The Chicago White Sox are a part of the American league. The two teams have a fierce rivalry. After interleague play began in 1997, the Cubs and White Sox have played each other 6 times annually. These games are among the most highly anticipated of the year.
- U.S. Cellular field, located on the south side of Chicago, is the home stadium of the White Sox. Wrigley Field, located on the north side of Chicago, is home of the Cubs. White Sox fans are known as “South Siders” and Cubs fans are known as “North Siders”.
- Despite numerous titles, pennants, and remarkable players, both teams are considered to be cursed because of their long periods of drought. In 1945 a local Cubs fan was not permitted to bring his pet goat into the stadium. He supposedly cursed the team and declared they would never again win a World Series (which they haven’t). In 2005 the White Sox finally won a World Series, after 88 years of waiting for victory.
As the perfect destination for both large and small groups of baseball fans, Chicago welcomes travelers from near and far.
