Amidst the Crisis in the Middle East, The BusBank Was Ready To Roll
The conflict in the Middle East has catalyzed emergency utilization of all modes of mass transportation as tens of thousands of foreigners have been evacuated from Lebanon by land, sea and air. Within the last weeks, the US government has stepped in to offer assistance by sending C-17 military flights to whisk thousands of United States citizens to safety.
On Saturday, July 22nd, The BusBank® received a call from McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. We were informed that possibly a dozen C-17 flights were scheduled to land between Saturday night and Sunday morning, which could result in the movement of more than 1,000 evacuees. Upon arrival, the travel-weary passengers would need to be transported to Newark International Airport. Thanks to our 24/7 On Call service, The BusBank was able to immediately connect with multiple bus operators in New York and New Jersey to secure availability. The value of our independent operator network was put to the test and quickly provided a solution to the emergency. During a 30 hour period, our emergency transportation solution helped over 700 evacuees make it home!
When an emergency strikes The BusBank is standing by and ready to roll.
